Pyramids FC reach Confederation Cup quarters after victory over Future FC

Egyptian side Pyramids FC reached the Confederation Cup quarter-finals after defeating fellow country club Future FC 2-1 in a Group stage game at Air defense stadium in Cairo on Sunday

International defender Ali Gabr opened the scoring for Pyramids FC in the 15 th minute, while veteran playmaker Abdallah El-Saed doubled the lead, seven minutes after the break.

Substitute striker Ahmed Atef scored the consolation goal for Future FC in injury time.

Pyramids advanced to the next round after finishing second in the Group with 11 points, on level with FAR Rabat who were held to a 1-1 draw by ASKO Kara on Sunday.

The Moroccan side leaded the group due to their better head-to-head record against Pyramids FC.

Both side will join Marumo Gallants (South Africa), USM Alger (Algeria), ASEC Mimosas (Ivory Coast), Rivers United (Nigeria), Young Africans (Tanzania) and Monastir (Tunisia) in the competition’s quarters.

The draw of the final phase will be held in Egypt on Wednesday.
