The date and place of the meeting is yet to be announced.

Bin Farhan emphasised the need for Iranian and Saudi officials to remain in touch, saying the current measures of the two sides are positive and satisfactory.

Amirabdollahian expressed his content with the positive developments between Tehran and Riyadh and underlined the Islamic Republic’s resolve to expand its policy of neighbourliness.

In January 2016, Tehran and Riyadh severed diplomatic relations after the attacks on Saudi diplomatic centres in Tehran and Mashhad by supporters of the Iranian government.

However, on 10 March 2023, the two countries agreed to resume relations in an agreement mediated by China.

Following the deal, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi favourably received an invitation from Saudi Arabia's King Salman to visit the kingdom, according to an Iranian official.

"In a letter to President Raisi... the king of Saudi Arabia welcomed the deal between the two brotherly countries (and) invited him to Riyadh," tweeted Mohammad Jamshidi, the Iranian president's deputy chief of staff for political affairs, adding that "Raisi welcomed the invitation."
