Egypt U-23 team coach praises players despite losing 3-0 to Japan and exiting the London Games on Saturday

Hany Ramzy

Egypt Olympic team coach Hany Ramzy said that he is proud of the performance of his team players despite losing 3-0 to Japan in the quarterfinals of the 2012 London Games on Saturday.

"Egypt's Olympic team performed well throughout the tournament and they were a tough opponent to all the teams in the group," Ramzy told the game post press conference.

"We managed to get through the difficult atmosphere in Egypt as domestic football is currently suspended," he added.

It was simply bad luck that they lost the game to Japan, Ramzy said.

"I hope the players continue with their superb performance in the coming championships as they are the future of Egyptian football," the Olympic team tactician concluded, looking forward.

Egypt's ten-man team missed out on a place at the London Games semis after slumping to a 3-0 defeat to a highly effective Japan side in Saturday’s quarter-final match at the Old Trafford.
