Defender Mahmoud "El-Wensh" Hamdy scored the winner in the 30th minute with a nice header, giving his side a morale-boosting win before the arrival of the team’s new coach.
Zamalek played the game under the guidance of interim coach Medhat Abdel-Hady, with several reports suggesting that the club has reached a final agreement with Colombian coach Juan Carlos Osorio to take charge of the team.
The first half was a boring affair as both sides failed to convince, with Zamalek having some half-chances while the visitors were content with the draw.
The winner came in the 30th minute when Mahmoud 'El-Wensh' Hamdy rose above his marker to meet a nice cross from Ahmed Fatouh with a powerful header at the far post.
NBE Club's coach made three substitutions just before the break to improve the team’s offensive performance, but the trio failed to make their presence felt.
The second half saw NBE Club dominate in terms of possession, but their attempts were easily contained by Zamalek defense.
NBE Club had a goal disallowed when Bassem Morsi scored in the 75th minute but the referee reversed his decision after a VAR check.
This win is the first for Zamalek after three winless games in the domestic league, as they lost to Enppi 2-0 and Masry 3-2 after being held by Pyramids FC 0-0.
They now sit fourth on the league table with 36 points, 11 behind leaders Ahly, who have three matches in hand.
