The discussions took place on the margins of the World Bank and IMF Spring Meetings in Washington DC.

Hollar added that the discussions addressed a number of issues related to the implementation of the programme as well as the outlook for the Egyptian economy.

The discussions, she said, leading up to the start of the first review mission will continue virtually.

The World Bank Group’s and the IMF’s spring meetings concluded on Sunday.

A delegation of Egyptian officials that included both the ministers of finance and international cooperation as well as the Governor of the Central Bank of Egypt attended the meetings to discuss the first review of the $3 billion loan deal with the IMF’s officials.

The review was planned to be conducted on 15 March, but the IMF officials stated to Ahram Online that the review has not been conducted as of yet.

Sources familiar with the discussions told Ahram Online that the IMF still requires the Egyptian government to take more measures to level the field with the private sector, adding that the review will be conducted before the end of the current FY2022/2023.
