Forward Mohamed Sherif opened the scoring in the 28th minute, and in-form Mahmoud "Kahraba" Abdel-Moneim secured the win in the 66th minute against Smouha.

The Red Devils now have 53 points, five points ahead of second-place Future FC, who played two more games.

Ahly had an early chance to take the lead, but Smouha's keeper, El Hany Soliman, blocked Mahmoud "Kahraba's" point-blank shot in the second minute after Aliou Dieng set him clear.

Ahly kept up their pressure until they scored, with Sherif intercepting a cross from Mohamed Hany on the right side of the area and sending a brilliant curler to the far post.

After the interval, Smouha stepped up their game and pressed forward to grab the equalizer but could not create any real threat. Ahly, however, was dangerous on the counters, with South African winger Percy Tau breaking through into the area and crossing the ball to Kahraba, who missed the target from inside the box.

Kahraba made amends for his early misses as he doubled his team's lead from inside the box after an exchange of passes with Hany.

In injury time, Ahly keeper Mohamed El Shennawy received a red card for attacking a Smouha player.
