A statement, which was released by the official spokesperson of the Egyptian Armed Forces this morning, explained that this has taken place “amid the ongoing events in Sudan and as part of the efforts of the Egyptian Armed Forces in close cooperation with all security agencies in Egypt and Sudan to secure the return of the Egyptian troops that were participating in joint training with the Sudanese army.”
“On Wednesday 19 April, all necessary coordination was undertaken with the Sudanese authorities to land three transport planes from the Egyptian Armed Forces in an airbase in Sudan to carry out the mission of evacuating the Egyptian troops in a completely safe way and that was followed by the the takeoff of the three planes in three successive flights which carried the majority of the members of the Egyptian force to an Egyptian military base in Cairo,” the statement continued.
“On this morning of Thursday 20 April and in coordination with concerned Sudanese parties and friendly and brotherly countries as well as the International Committee of the Red Cross, the secure arrival of all remaining Egyptian to the Embassy of the Arab Republic of Egypt was accomplished in preparation for evacuating them from Sudan upon stabilisation of the situation and availability of adequate security conditions back to the homeland.”
The statement concluded that the “Egyptian Armed Forces confirms that all Egyptian troops who returned to the homeland or those who are at the Egyptian embassy in Khartoum are well and in good health.”
