Sisi and Bin Zayed discuss calming situation in Sudan

Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi and the President of the United Arab Emirates Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan discussed in a phone call on Thursday joint the efforts to calm the situation in Sudan and return to dialogue.

"The call discussed the intensive efforts to stop the escalation and return to dialogue and the political process," according to a statement by the Spokesperson for the Egyptian presidency Ahmed Fahmy.

"Egypt and the UAE support the brotherly Sudanese people in their efforts to achieve their aspirations towards enhancing security, stability and development in the country," the statement read.

The two leaders also exchanged greetings on the occasion of the blessed Eid Al-Fitr - praying that both countries and their brotherly peoples would continue to prosper and enjoy stability; and that peace and security would prevail in Arab, Islamic and the whole world.

Earlier on Thursday, the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that coordinated efforts with the UAE secured the arrival of 27 soldiers who were in Sudan in a training mission at the time of the outbreak of fighting in the country to the Embassy of Egypt in Khartoum.
