According to a statement released on Sunday by the Egyptian Airports Company (EAC), 15 minutes after taking off from HRG en route to London Luton Airport, the pilot of the Airbus A-321, which was carrying 178 passengers plus crew, requested an emergency landing at Hurghada airport citing fire alarm on board the plane.
The authorities at HRG carried out all protocols to ensure the safety of all passengers and crew, the EAC added.
After the aircraft landed safely, and upon further inspection, the HRG determined that the fire alarm was false and the plane was cleared to resume flight.
