Refugees cross into Egypt through the Argeen land port with Sudan on April 27, 2023.

14,000 Sudanese citizens, along with 2,000 citizens from 50 countries and six international organisations, entered Egypt, Abu Zeid clarified.

Efforts continue around the clock to receive citizens fleeing military conflict, alleviate their suffering and provide them with necessary humanitarian aid.

On Wednesday, the Ministry of Transportation reported that 10,194 individuals from different countries entered Egypt through border crossings between 21 and 25 April.

The ministry also highlighted its cooperation with the Egyptian Red Crescent, which opened a relief centre earlier this week, providing necessary meals and medicine for refugees.

Egypt has around 10,000 citizens in Sudan, including 5,000 students, trying to evacuate amid clashes that have killed 427 people, including two Egyptians and wounded thousands.

As per the most recent update from the Egyptian Foreign Ministry, 2,679 Egyptian citizens have been successfully evacuated from Sudan thus far.
