During the first leg game, some dreadful defensive blunders allowed Marumo Gallants to claim a lead over hosts Pyramids FC in Cairo.

However, talented winger Ramadan Sobhi scored an injury-time penalty to keep his side's hopes alive ahead of the second away leg.

Pyramids FC want to reach the semi-finals for the third time, after missing out last season, but they will have to claim an away win.

“We came here with a single goal: to win the game and qualify for the semi-final,” Pyramids FC's Portuguese tactician Jaime Pacheco told the pre-game press conference.

"The game is expected to be tough since the two teams met last week and know each other well. Marumo Gallants have a lot talented players and will likely take advantage of playing at home." he added.

The Egyptian side produced a poor performance during the first game and seemed disjointed without their veteran playmaker Abdallah El-Said, whose African season was ended due to a knee injury two weeks ago.

Pyramids FC welcomed back key frontline players Fakhreddine Ben Youssef and Fagrie Lakay after missing the first leg game in Cairo due to injuries.

However, long-time injured defender Osama Galal will continue to miss the Egyptian team's games.

"We struggled recently due to injuries and the congestion of fixtures but now the team is focused on our goal because we want to win the title," he concluded.

Pyramids FC are in contention for this season's league title as they are third in the Egyptian Premier League with 46 points, trailing seven points behind leaders Ahly.

On the other side, surprise package Marumo Gallants topped Group A but are are currently struggling in the South African League, sitting in 13th place with 28 points after playing 27 matches.
