“Timeline” exhibition of paintings by Cairo-based Spanish artist Xavier Puigmarti. In this exhibit, Puigmarti plays with time; Long paper sheets (300x70 cm) feature drawings of himself alongside miniatures of his most iconic paintings of old. When asked why he paints, Puigmarti answers with a banal sentence: “I paint to kill time”, or as one might say, “to avoid boredom”. Yet this answer is far from banal: Time is man's worst enemy. As Xavier says: "We know the outcome of our battle against time: It always kills us in the end (closing 4 May).
