The previous FOC took place in December 2015 in New Delhi.

Both sides discussed bilateral relations between the two countries in all their different aspects such as politics, trade and commerce, investment, development, capacity building as well as culture and relations on a people-to-people level.

They also deliberated on mechanisms to further strengthen the ties between Egypt and India as well as enhance cooperation in multilateral forms.

The two parties also exchanged perspectives on common current regional and global issues including climate change, supply chains, and the participation of the Global South under India's G20 Presidency.

The secretary held a bilateral meeting with Egyptian Deputy Foreign Minister for African Affairs Hamdi Loza as well as Saudi Arabian Assistant Secretary General of the League of Arab States Khalid bin Mohammad Al-Manzalawi, where the two officials discussed strengthening cooperation between India and Arab countries.

Egypt and India's representatives agreed to hold the next consultations in New Delhi at the nearest convenient date.

In January, Egypt and India agreed to elevate their bilateral relations to a strategic partnership on all levels, according to a joint statement on the occasion of the current state visit paid by Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi to New Delhi.

El-Sisi attended at the time the public celebrations of India's 74th Republic Day as chief guest of honour, attended by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Droupadi Murmu.
