According to a statement released by the Egyptian foreign Ministry, Shoukry expressed during the conversations with both sides “Egypt's deep concern over the ongoing military confrontations which have resulted in innocent civilian casualties and posed serious dangers to the security and stability of Sudan.”
He called for an immediate ceasefire to preserve the resources of the Sudanese people and uphold the highest national interest.
Shoukry stressed in the conversations with the two sides that “Egypt will not spare any efforts in standing alongside Sudan during this critical and unprecedented ordeal,”
He added that the “Egyptian people feel a deep pain because of the suffering experienced by the Sudanese people as a result of the ongoing fighting.”
“This necessitates that all parties abide by the ceasefire to allow for relief operations, provide humanitarian and medical assistance to those in need, and ensure the protection of civilians,” Shoukry stressed.
The Egyptian foreign minister also reaffirmed to both sides Egypt's constant position in calling for the respect of Sudan's sovereignty, the integrity of its territories, and non-interference in its internal affairs.
Finally, Shoukry reaffirmed that all current diplomatic contacts and efforts undertaken by Egypt are based on these principles and aim to assist Sudan in overcoming its crisis and provide a conducive environment for resolving disputes through dialogue.
