The Egyptian Super Cup is traditionally played between the winner of the Egyptian Premier League and the winner of Egypt Cup.
"We held talks with our partners, Abu Dhabi Sports, to organise a new format for the Egyptian Super Cup starting from next season to spread the tournament's value in the UAE," Seif El-Waziry told Abu Dhabi Sports channel in the early hours of Friday.
"We were speaking about holding the Egyptian Super Cup with participation of four teams to be played in three games, and there is a thought of playing an extra game to determine the third-place winner," he added.
The new format of the Egyptian Super Cup will be played in one week, according to the Chairman of Presentation Sports Agency.
"The Egyptian Football Association approved with the new idea and we reached an agreement with the EPL to organize the schedule of the tournament," El-Waziry added.
However they did not agree yet on its regulation nor the participants yet.
"The winner of the EPL Cup may qualify for the Egyptian Super Cup alongside the winners of the Egyptian League and Cup," he added.
"UAE will host the new format of the Egyptian Super Cup for four years as the product attracted the attention of more sponsors even inside Egypt," El-Waziri concluded.
A record-extending winner with 12 Egyptian Super Cup, Ahly, will play against Pyramids FC at Abu Dhabi's Mohammed Bin Zayed Stadium later on Friday in the 20th edition.
