Parliament's secretary-general Ahmed Manna toured the new House of Representatives building in the NAC, praising the project as an architectural milestone in Egypt's parliamentary history.

"I really thank all of those who contributed to the completion of the construction of the new building of the House of Representatives in the New Administrative Capital," Manna said.

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly visited Tuesday the new buildings of the ministries of transport and housing and made a tour of the NAC's Security Directorate.

The cabinet's weekly meetings are also currently being held at the NAC.

Reports suggest the House of Representatives will relocate to the NAC when its new legislative season begins in October.

The government started relocating its ministries and around 30,000 public employees to the new capital since the beginning of the year and 14 ministries and entities already relocated to the NAC, with plans to modernise and digitise the country's administrative system.

The NAC, which began construction in 2015, is set to house 6.5 million people when completed and is located 60 km from Cairo between the Cairo-Suez and Cairo-Ain Sokhna roads.
