"The summit aims to enhance consultation and coordination between Arab countries to maintain security and stability in the region, and promote Arab interests amidst the escalating crises at the international and regional levels," Egypt's Presidential Spokesperson Ahmed Fahmy said in a statement.
El-Sisi's participation in the summit reflects Egypt's efforts to develop its relations with Arab countries and promote joint action mechanisms.
On Wednesday, Arab foreign ministers held a preparatory meeting in Jeddah ahead of the Arab Summit, where they welcomed Syria back into the Arab fold and reaffirmed the centrality of the Palestinian cause to the pan-Arab agenda.
The decision to accept Syria back took place on 7 May, ending a 12-year suspension.
The heads of Arab states are expected to discuss mediation efforts to end the conflict in Sudan and the latest developments in the Arab-Israeli conflict, including serious Israeli violations in Jerusalem, among other issues.
