According to the statement, all beaches, except those located at and near the site of the incident, namely the Shaab Al-Sheraton area, the old Sheraton area and the Sinbad area, have been reopened.
The attack took place on Thursday and resulted in the death of 24-year-old Popov V.W. As a precautionary measure, authorities had initially closed all beaches in the area from Gouna to the north of Hurghada and Soma Bay to its south for a two-day period starting from Friday, according to the announcement.
The most recent incident of this kind occurred in July 2022 when two women lost their lives following shark attacks off the coast of Hurghada. In 2020, another unfortunate attack resulted in a Ukrainian boy losing an arm, and an Egyptian tour guide losing a leg.
The statement emphasized the importance of adhering to safety guidelines. Beachgoers are urged to use only the designated areas deemed safe for swimming and to engage in marine activities such as diving or snorkeling solely in the assigned sites.
