Egypt defeated Guinea 2-1 in the fifth round of Group D in the competition’s qualifiers in Morocco on Wednesday.
“The win had another taste for me, and I would like to congratulate my players for their performance and the victory,” Vitoria said during the post-game press conference.
“The game was difficult for us because of the circumstances that preceded it. Some players were suffering from fatigue, and others joined us for the first time, but I’m satisfied with the performance as we fought till the end,” the Portuguese tactician added.
“Changing positions between Salah and Zizo had a significant impact in the second half.
“Our defence was well organized, which helped us during the game, although I was angry for conceding a goal because there should have been a convergence between the lines,” Vitoria went on.
"We did not start the game well technically, and we opened the field significantly, which was exploited by the opponent, but by the end of the first half, we were much better, and we controlled the game after the draw," he explained.
“Trezeguet played a great match, and I was satisfied with all the players in light of the circumstances of the game. I will review the players' condition and see who can play the friendly against South Sudan," he concluded.
