World Music Day: Amira Selim at National Museum of Egyptian Civilization, Hany Shenouda in Alexandria

World Music Day on Wednesday will bring several interesting concerts to stages in Cairo and Alexandria.

The National Museum of Egyptian Civilization (NMEC) will celebrate its anniversary alongside World Music Day celebrations with a concert by renowned Egyptian soprano, Amira Selim.

Black Theama

Black Theama will present new musical arrangements to celebrate the river Nile, alongside previous Black Theama hits, inspired by the rhythms of Nubia, Sudan and Africa. The band will also feature trio Fatma Ali with her two daughters Habiba and Farah.

Hany Shenouda 

Alexandria Opera House prepares for a special concert featuring Hany Shenouda accompanied by other singers: Mona, Tina, Seif and Issa. 

The Alexandria Opera House String Orchestra will be conducted by Mahmoud Bayoumy, featuring Ashraf Sharara on cello.

Mazaher Ensemble (Zar)


The Mazaher Ensemble (Zar) will give their weekly concert at the Egyptian Center For Culture & Arts - Makan.

The musicians of Mazaher, Um Sameh, Um Hassan and Nour El-Sabah are among the last remaining Zar practitioners in Egypt. Their music is inspired by the three different styles of the Egyptian Zar tradition.
