The two countries announced the reopening of their diplomatic missions earlier in the day.
Egypt lauded this positive step, affirming that such decisions strengthen joint Arab action and unity, the statement continued.
Finally, Egypt affirmed its support of all efforts to strengthen Arab relations at all levels to protect the interests of their people.
The UAE and Qatar lacked diplomatic representation until now, despite the signing in early 2021 of the Al-Ula agreement for reconciliation. The agreement restablished diplomatic ties between Qatar and Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and the UAE.
The quartet of Arab states had cut ties with Qatar in June of 2017, accusing it of backing Iran and terrorist groups.
