The decision is made amid the "exceptional circumstances" faced by Sudanese refugees in Egypt, announced the embassy of Sudan in Cairo on Saturday.

Over 250,000 Sudanese have fled to Egypt due to the ongoing conflict, according to statements Egyptian ministry of foreign affairs.

Meanwhile, Egypt implemented in May visa requirements on all Sudanese entering the country, whereas previously women of all ages and males under 16 or over 50 were allowed to enter visa-free.

The Sudanese embassy also announced that it will become the second location beside the Port Sudan centre to issue documentation and accreditation for Sudanese citizens, they added.

The service will be temporarily available until the documentation department in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs resumes its duties, they affirmed.

Documents eligible for accreditation include academic certificates, health certificates, and birth certificates, as long as they were previously issued by the relevant Sudanese authorities.

All arrangements have been put in place to verify the authenticity of documents presented for accreditation, the statement asserted.

However, the embassy cannot approve certificates issued by any court or judicial body including marriage certificates, inheritance documents, name change requests etc, and cannot grant power of attorney.

The decision goes into effect on Monday 26 June, the embassy concluded.
