The body of Sameer Hussein Mohamed Hussein, 21, was transported to the morgue of the East City Hospital under the supervision of the Public Prosecution.

The collapse of a 13-story apartment building, mostly used by Egyptian holidaymakers, in Alexandria's Sidi Bishr area, has put local authorities, including health and social solidarity institutions, on high alert.

The Public Prosecution has issued an order to detain a contractor for four days pending investigation over charges of carrying out unauthorized constructions on the top floor and ignoring a demolition order.

It also launched an investigation into the collapse, sending a team to inspect the scene. The prosecution instructed civil defence and municipal officials to secure the area and adjacent properties.

Moreover, a committee from the governorate's Housing Directorate was also established to investigate the cause of the collapse and check the building's documentation.

Additionally, the Decent Life Foundation pledged on Monday to provide EGP 25,000 to the families of the victims and deployed field monitoring teams in Alexandria to provide support to those affected.

The foundation said it had also deployed field monitoring teams in Alexandria to provide on-ground support to the affected individuals.
