The Reds reclaimed their position at the top of the league table after Friday’s 3-0 win over Haras El-Hodoud.
Recently crowned African Champions League Champions Ahly currently lead the table with 65 points, one point ahead of second-placed Pyramids FC, who have played five more matches.
A win against NBE Club on Thursday is a must for Ahly who need 12 points out of a 27 possible to secure their 43rd Egyptian League title.
Ahly also need to restore some confidence after their shaky performance in Sunday’s narrow and late 1-0 victory over Suez SC in the Egypt Cup Round of 32.
Ahly’s key duo of midfielder Amr El-Sulaya and defender Mahmoud Metwaly are doubtful for the NBE game as they are suffering from muscular injures.
Meanwhile, NBE, who played 31 matches so far, hope to move up in the table as they currently lie in 11th place with 35 points.
Securing victory on Thursday would be a revenge for NBE from their 1-0 loss to Ahly in the first round of the league this season.
NBE secured three successive league wins over Ismaily, Aswan and Dakhlya before drawing in the last league game against Ittihad of Alexandria.
