This came in a statement issued following the emergency meeting of the Palestinian leadership. The President of the State of Palestine, Mahmoud Abbas, headed the meeting, which was held at the presidential headquarters in Ramallah to discuss the ongoing Israeli aggression against the city of Jenin and its camp.

Eight Palestinians have so far been killed, and 70 were injured -- many of them critically -- in the ongoing large-scale Israeli air and land assault on Jenin.

Israeli occupation army launched a major assault on Jenin since dawn today, starting with airstrikes before dozens of military vehicles and several hundred soldiers raided the city, concentrating on its refugee camp.

Abbas called on the international community to provide urgent international protection for the Palestinian people, impose sanctions on Israel, and condemn the ongoing terrorist aggression against Jenin and its refugee camp, WAFA news agency reported.

According to the statement read by the official spokesman for the presidency, Nabil Abu Rudeineh,  the heads of the Palestinian political factions are invited to an emergency meeting to discuss and agree on a comprehensive national vision and unite the ranks to confront Israeli aggression.

The leadership reaffirmed the right of the Palestinian people to defend themselves against aggression, stressing that the Palestinian Authority's (PA) mission is to protect the people and use all its resources to achieve that goal while adhering to international legitimacy and international law.

Abu Rudeineh said that in light of the Israeli lack of commitment to the Aqaba and Sharm el-Sheikh understandings, the leadership declares that these understandings are null and void.

Abbas also decided to immediately go to the UN Security Council to implement Resolution 2334 and the resolution on international protection for the Palestinian people. He will also call on the council to halt unilateral Israeli measures, impose sanctions on Israel, and condemn the ongoing terrorist aggression against Jenin and its refugee camp, WAFA news agency reported.

According to the statement published by WAFA, these are the resolutions adopted by the Palestinian leadership following its emergency meeting:

1. To cease all contact with the Israeli side.

3. To maintain the cessation of security coordination.

4. To maintain the activities of the popular committees in defending cities, villages and camps. All Palestinian departments are to uphold their role in protecting the Palestinian people.

5. Adhering to the Palestinian national constants and the Palestine Liberation Organization as the sole and legitimate representative of the Palestinian people. In addition, the Palestinian leadership should continue to seek full membership status of the State of Palestine in the United Nations and secure more international recognition.

6. To call on the International Criminal Court to expedite the proceedings on referred cases.

7. To support Palestinian families in lodging cases before the International Criminal Court (ICC) against the Israeli occupation forces for the massacres and killings they carried out against innocent civilians.

8. To demand the revocation of Israel's membership in the United Nations due to its failure to implement Resolutions 181 and 194.

9. To lodge cases against the occupying state for the committed crimes for which it bears responsibility throughout its occupation.

10. To file cases against Israel for the massacres it committed, the destruction of villages and the displacement of the Palestinian people during the Nakba period.

11. To launch an immediate call for the ongoing international commission of inquiry in the Human Rights Council to investigate and refer its findings, regarding the responsibility of the occupation for these massacres and acts of terrorism, to the International Criminal Court and the UN Security Council.

12. To resume accession to the remaining UN conventions and international organizations.

13. To submit cases against the US and Britain because of the Balfour Declaration and demand recognition, apology and compensation.
