The club thanked Fathi for his efforts during his time with the team.

“Thanks for everything Hamdi,” said the club in their official Twitter account on Wednesday.

On Tuesday, Al-Wakrah announced that they had reached a final agreement with Ahly to sign Fathi.

However, Ahly has yet to comment on the matter.

According to Al-Wakrah's spokesperson, Mohamed bin Fahd, negotiations between the two clubs and the player had been ongoing for several weeks until an agreement was reached over all details.

The player is set to undergo medical tests in Doha, and the date of the contract signing and player unveiling will be announced after the results.

The deal, which has been estimated to be worth around $3.25 million, marks the end of Fathi's five-year career with Ahly, during which he scored 14 goals in 152 appearances across all competitions.

Fathi played a key role in helping Ahly win three titles this season: the 2021/2022 Egypt Cup, the 2022 Egyptian Super Cup, and the African Champions League.

He has scored four goals in 34 appearances with Ahly this season in all competitions.

Al-Wakrah, a two-time winner of Qatar's top-level football league, the Qatar Stars League, finished fourth in the competition this season with 39 points, 12 behind champions Al Duhail SC.
