New heads of Egypt's judicial authorities swear in before Sisi
The president swore in Counselor Hosni Abu Zeid as the president of the Court of Cassation, and Counselor Abd El Maqsud Bayoumy as the president State Lawsuits Authority, the statement continued.
Moreover, Counselor Hafez Abbas was sworn in before the president as head of the Administrative Prosecution Authority.
The president affirmed the crucial role of the parties in implementing justice and upholding the law, praising their honourable performance of their duties in the government so far.
Such dedication contributes to the protection of citizens' rights and the preservation of Egypt's interests, the president asserted.
The officials' appointment comes following the retirement of the former head of the Court of Cassation Mohamed Mahgoub, former president of the State Lawsuits Authority Mohamed Bakr, and Adly Zayed former head of the Administrative Prosecution Authority who were appointed in 2022.
The president honoured the former heads of judicial authorities, praising their service, efforts, and dedication not just in their most recent position but over the course of their whole careers.
While the heads of these positions are meant to serve four-year terms according to a 2019 law, their terms expire when they reach the age of 60.
The chief of each of the abovementioned judicial bodies is chosen by the president from among the seven longest-serving deputies under each body .
