The documentary, titled “Adel Emam...Egyptian Memory,” tackles a number of topics like Adel Emam’s role in fighting terrorism through his films, as well as his relationship with politicians, and his involvement in addressing remarkable local and regional issues like the sectarian violence and the Palestinian cause, among other issues.

Featuring rare archival footage, the film includes interviews with notable guests such as former ministers and politicians Mostafa El-Feki, Helmy El-Namnam and Farouk Hosni, film producer and writer Emad Adib, critic Magda Mourice and composer Mody El-Emam, among others.

The film delves into an assassination attempt by Mohamed Krum, a member of an Islamic terrorist group, which occurred after Adel Emam's 1994 release of The Terrorist.

“We could produce twenty successful documentaries about Adel Emam,” stated Al Arabiya's Egypt Bureau Chief Randa Abul Azm to MBC Masr prime-time talk-show El-Hekaya with Amr Adib, explaining that the film only focuses on his political impact.

Adel Emam, born on 17 May, 1940, is one of Egypt's most prominent film, TV and theatre stars, with nearly 50 years of box office hits and celebrated plays to his credit.

Emam's films, from El-Mudir El-Fanni (1965) to Alzheimer's (2010), offer a unique lens through which to understand many of Egypt's social and political issues over the past few decades.

Emam's notable hits, which address sensitive political issues, include Toyour El-Zalam (1995), El-Sefara Fi El-Omara (2005), Hassan We Morcus (2008), Morgan Ahmed Morgan (2008), and Bobbos (2009).

His collaborations with director Sherif Arafa during the 1990s, such as Allaeb Maa El-Kobar (1991), El-Irhab WalKabab (1992), and El-Mansy (1993), as well as writer Lenin El-Ramly's Bakhit wa Adeela trilogy, are also worth mentioning.
