New Alamein City on the North Coast is gearing for the biggest entertainment festival in the Middle East with a wide range of music, cultural, shopping and sports activities that will continue throughout this summer season.

Here is what you need to know about the festival

  • It will be held from 13 July to 26 August in the coastal Mediterranean city about 100 kilometres west of Alexandria and 180 kilometres east of Marsa Matrouh.
  • The festival will include concerts for famous international, Arab and Egyptian singers at Alamein's Romanian Theatre.
  • The first concert will be on 21 July for popular Egyptian pop star Tamer Hosny with an open act by Lebanese “Disco Beirut”.
  • Aside from the concerts, the festival will include sports, cultural and other activities.
  • The festival will host a beach soccer tournament on 13-15 July featuring 40 football stars.
  • The festival will host a Teqball tournament featuring the world champions Brazilian star Natalia Guitler and Serbian star Maja Umićević.
  • The festival will also host a fashion show featuring the best 10 Arab fashion designers.
  • New Alamein will later host a triathlon tournament, an RC aircraft airshow, a rowing tournament, a jetski challenge and an international paddling championship.
  • The festival aims to attract more than one million tourists from Egypt and the Arab world.

Aside from the festival, New Alamein City has its own dedicated City of Arts featuring a cinema complex, an opera house, a museum and a heritage quarter to preserve the heritage of the city of Alamein. 

The nearest airport to New Alamein is Alamein International Airport, which is is about 30 kilometres away. There is also Borg El-Arab International Airport west of Alexandria, which can be reached by car in 75 minutes.

Built across 48,000 acres with investments over EGP 40 billion, New Alamein has the capacity to host four million people. It is not only a resort city, but also a fully working year-round city and second administrative capital with a headquarters for the cabinet.

The Mediterranean city will contain, once completed, one of the ten tallest residential towers in the world: the Iconic Tower at the Downtown Towers Project.

The 300-metre-tall tower is being built by China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC) – one of the largest construction companies in the world. 

The Downtown Towers Project comprises five residential towers that will also include four 200-metre-tall apartment buildings.

The New Alamein City is among 30 new fourth-generation cities being built by the Ministry of Housing in conjunction with the New Urban Communities Authority.
