Israeli security forces block ambulances of the Palestinian Red Cross from advancing near the West Bank city of Nablus on July 25, 2023. Israeli troops killed three Palestinians in the West Bank city of Nablus, the Palestinian health ministry said. AFP
"Three Palestinians have been killed by Israeli bullets in Nablus," the ministry said, adding the identities of those killed remain unknown.
According to a correspondent from the Palestinian news agency WAFA, quoting security sources, the Israeli forces hindered ambulances from reaching the site, detained the bodies of the victims, and confiscated their vehicle.
An eyewitness reported that the forces intentionally targeted surveillance cameras at the location in an apparent effort to conceal details of the alleged execution crime, as per WAFA.
The Israeli army imposed a closure on the area for several hours, restricting access for medical personnel and the press. The iron gate at the entrance to Mount Gerizim was also closed, and citizens were barred from entering or leaving through it.
The deaths are the latest in a surge of violence against West Bank Palestinians. Israeli violence this year has killed at least 198 Palestinians.
Palestine's West Bank, under Israeli occupation since the Six-Day War of 1967, is home to nearly three million Palestinians, as well as around 490,000 Israelis who live in settlements considered illegal under international law.
