Ahly, Pyramids, Zamalek, and Future FC will all begin their continental campaigns from the second preliminary round, with the first leg games of both tournaments taking place from 15-17 September and the return fixtures from 19 September to 1 October.
Cairo giants Ahly, the defending Champions League title-holder, will face the winner of the match between Zanzibar’s KMKM and Ethiopian side Saint George SC.
Pyramids FC will be making their CAF Champions League debut after finishing runners-up in the Egyptian Premier League. They will play the winner of the game between Rwanda’s APR FC and Somalia’s Gaadiidka FC. Pyramids FC were eliminated from the 2022/2023 Confederation Cup quarterfinals by South Africa’s Marumo Gallants.
In the Confederation Cup draw, Zamalek, who were knocked out of last season’s Champions League group stage, will play against the winner of the game between Somalian side Horseed FC and Djibouti’s Arta Solar 7. The White Knights will participate in the competition after finishing third in the Egyptian League.
Meanwhile, the Egyptian league fourth-placed Future FC will begin their second participation in the Confederation Cup by facing the winner of the tie between Tanzania’s Singida United and Jeshi la Kujenga FC after being eliminated from last season’s group stage.
