Egypt's agriculture exports jump 18 percent in 7 months

Egypt's agriculture exports reached more than 5 million tons during the period from 1 January until 26 July 2023, an 18 percent surge over the same period in 2022, according to a report by the Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation.

Egypt’s top export crops during that period were citrus, potatoes, onions, sweet potatoes, strawberries, green beans, guava, garlic and pomegranates.

Citrus came in first place at 1.9 million tons followed by fresh potatoes at 896,447 tons and onions at 351,899 tons.

Egypt's trade deficit tumbled by 29.8 per cent to only $23.6 billion. Petroleum exports decreased to $11.7 billion from $13 billion, while petroleum imports rose to $10 billion from around $9 billion.
