The escalation began when a gunman, known as 'Somali' opened fire on an Islamic activist at Ain Al-Hilweh's vegetable market, causing a foot injury.

Lebanese National News Agency, NNA, reported a heavily armed deployment between the Safsaf and Barkasat areas on Sunday.

After the initial shooting, medium machine gun rounds, hand grenades, and rocket-propelled grenades were discharged, leading to further casualties. The two girls were taken to the Humanitarian Appeal Hospital in the camp for urgent medical attention.

As tension filled the air, some families took the precautionary measure of seeking refuge in the neighbouring villas. Meanwhile, authorities and mediators worked tirelessly to establish communication and negotiate a ceasefire, aiming to restore normalcy to the area.
