According to the Egyptian foreign ministry, Blinken stressed to Shoukry the importance of the strategic partnership between the two countries and the commitment to enhancing bilateral cooperation on the economic, development, military, and security levels.
He also stressed the importance of coordinating positions to find effective and sustainable solutions to the various crises facing the region.
Blinken commended Egypt's important role in the framework of the Sudan Neighbors' Mechanism, highlighting his country's commitment to coordinating with Cairo to end the crisis in Sudan, according to the statement.
Egypt has been intensifying efforts with regional and international partners to find resolutions for various regional crises.
In July, Egypt hosted a Sudan Neighbouring States Summit to discuss the impact of the crisis in Sudan on its neighbours.
Earlier this week, Egypt also hosted a unity meeting of various Palestinian factions in New Alamein City.
