4.76 magnitude earthquake in Cyprus felt in Egypt

An earthquake measuring 4.76 on the Richter scale hit Cyprus Thursday and was felt in Egypt, the National Research Institute of Astronomy and Geophysics (NRIAG) announced.

NRIAG reported that on Thursday, 10 August 2023, at 4:16 PM, Egypt’s stations of the National Earthquake Network recorded a magnitude 4.76 earthquake on the Richter scale approximately 480 kilometres away from the North of Damietta in the North Nile Delta.

The NRIAG added that no damages or casualties were reported in Egypt.

A 4.8-magnitude earthquake struck Cyprus shortly afternoon on Thursday, according to the Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC).

The earthquake had a focal depth of 30 kilometres and occurred in the sea area between Cyprus and Turkey.
