Video: Rainfall persists for fourth day in Saint Catherine; warning for beachgoers

A heavy wave of rainfall in Sinai which resulted in floods in Saint Catherine continues for the fourth day in a row, the Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA) reported on Thursday.

Despite the high temperatures in South Sinai governorate that range between 40-41 degrees Celsius, the governorate has witnessed a substantial amount of summer rain, with flooding in some areas. 

Weather experts attributed the change in weather conditions to climate change, which is causing fluctuations in weather all around the world.

Beachgoers need to be wary. The EMA warned against strong winds over the Mediterranean Sea on Thursday, causing waves to rise from 2 m to 2.5 m on Thursday and Friday. 

Eeather maps show wind activity in the Suez Gulf and the Red Sea, leading to disruptions in maritime navigation on Thursday and Friday. 

Temperature through the week 

Greater Cairo and Lower Egypt will see a high of 33-34 degrees Celsius from Thursday to Tuesday.

North Coast highs will range between 31-32 degrees Celsius from Thursday to Tuesday.

Temperatures in northern Upper Egypt will fluctuate between 35-37 degrees from Thursday to Tuesday.

Southern Upper Egypt will see highs of 42-45 degrees Thursday through Tuesday.

In South Sinai, highs will range between 40-41 degrees from Thursday to Tuesday.
