The recruitment comes amid a shortage of teachers in Egypt, which UNICEF officials recently highlighted for being one of the top challenges facing the education system in the country.
UNICEF Egypt's head of education Shiraz Shakra noted on Sunday that one of the challenges facing the education system in Egypt is the shortage of teachers, along with the reduction in knowledge and skill levels brought on by the COVID-19 epidemic and a decline in kindergarten enrolment rates.
“While student enrolment rates [in general] have increased, the overall number of teachers has decreased,” Shakra said, emphasizing the percentage of school-aged children is expected to rise by 30 percent by 2030, meaning around eight million students will join the education system.
Working at technical institutions offers benefits like professional development through high-quality international training, the ministry said on Thursday.
Teachers gain hands-on experience to advance their careers and are rewarded for strong performance.
Applicants will be notified after the deadline via phone or email to schedule an assessment and interview, which are required for placement at one of the technical schools.
