Social media users have been circulating reports in recent days that several Egyptian drivers, who deliver food to war-torn Sudan, were facing hardships as they were stranded at the crossing points of Argeen and Qastal.

Ambulance vehicles were dispatched to the areas of congestion to provide necessary medical care at the crossings, the transport ministry said. 

Water supplies and meals are also being provided to truck drivers at the crossings, the ministry added.

The Egyptian authorities have approved a new system to regulate truck arrivals at the crossings, read the statement.

Accordingly, trucks headed to Argeen and Qastal crossings are required to arrive beforehand at assembly points in Upper Egypt's Aswan governorate.

The trips are operated based on the capacity of the crossings to avoid congestion.

Truck drivers are provided with healthcare services and food supplies at assembly points, the ministry noted.

To accommodate the increasing movement of trucks, the ministry said it is expanding logistics areas in Aswan, such as Wadi Karakar and Abu Simbel, providing them with ambulance vehicles and other services.
