According to the African football governing body, the anticipated game between CAF Champions League champions Ahly and CAF Confederation Cup champions USM Alger is set to be played in the city of Taif at the iconic King Fahd Stadium.

“We are excited to take the CAF Super Cup to a new territory in Saudi Arabia – a country that has been making significant strides in global football. African football ranks amongst the best in the world right now, and it is fitting that, in an era where many international stars are heading to Saudi Arabia, African football is also a part of this movement,” CAF General Secretary Veron Mosengo-Omba was quoted as saying by CAF’s official website.

“On behalf of CAF president, Dr Patrice Motsepe, I would like to thank the Saudi Arabia football family for their cooperation and we look forward to what will be an exciting CAF Super Cup,” he added.

Earlier this year, CAF and Saudi Arabian Football Federation (SAFF) signed a landmark five-year agreement aimed at hosting competitions and developing growth opportunities for both African and Saudi football.

Ahly, who clinched their 11th Champions League title, have won the Super Cup eight times and are the most successful team in the single-leg tie.

Meanwhile, Alger, who clinched the Confederation Cup for the first time ever, are seeking their first-ever Super Cup title in their debut.
