Introduced by CAF in partnership with FIFA, this inaugural edition of the AFL will showcase 8 teams, serving as a precursor to the fully-fledged 2024/2025 edition, which will encompass the 24 highest-ranked African teams.
Scheduled for the current year, this edition will adopt a home-and-away framework along with a knock-out format.
The lineup includes Egypt's Ahly, Tunisia's Esperance, Nigeria's Enyimba, South Africa's Mamelodi Sundowns, Angola's Petro Atletico, Tanzania's Simba, DR Congo's TP Mazembe, and Morocco's Wydad.
The tournament is set to kick off on 20 October and ends on 11 November.
