According to a statement by the ENRRA, the decision to grant the permit came following the comprehensive inspection period that took place from 30 July - 2 August.

The ENRRA has confirmed all necessary procedures were taken to ensure the provision of the best safety measures in accordance with the highest international standards, added the statement.

Sami Shaaban, the head of the Board of Directors of the ENRRA, stressed that the authority closely monitors the process of establishing all units under construction through a system of rigorous on-site inspections.

The Dabaa NPP, slated to be the first of its kind to produce nuclear energy for peaceful purposes in Egypt, is being built in the governorate of Matrouh in the northwest of the country.

Construction at Dabaa NPP began in June 2022.

The project is being built as a joint effort between Egypt and the Russian State Atomic Energy - Rosatom through a 22-year $25 billion loan agreement with Russia that was signed in 2015.
