The inaugural edition of this continental tournament is scheduled to kick off on October 20, 2023, offering an impressive prize pool of $10 million.

The tournament's format for this maiden edition will feature a home-and-away structure combined with a knockout system, with plans for expansion in future editions.

The eight participating teams have been divided into two pots. Pot 1 includes Angola's Petro Atletico, Tanzania's Simba, Nigeria's Enyimba, and DR Congo's TP Mazembe. In Pot 2, we find Al Ahly, Morocco's Wydad Casablanca, Tunisia's Esperance, and South Africa's Mamelodi Sundowns.
