The raid earlier today was the first incursion by the occupation forces into the densely-populated refugee camp in the northern West Bank since their deadly raid two months ago.

The Israeli army wounded five Palestinians and damaged several homes in the camp during the operation, according to Palestinian sources.

In separate statements, local units of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad's Quds Brigades and Hamas' Qassam Brigades said their fighters responded with fire at Israeli special forces who were attempting to infiltrate through the outskirts of the camp.

According to the Palestinian news agency WAFA, the Israeli army launched the raid into the camp earlier today using 40 armoured vehicles that were backed by helicopters and drones, leading to intense clashes with local resistance fighters.

In a joint statement, Israel's army, the Shin Bet security agency, and the Border Police said Israeli troops raided the camp and apprehended three Palestinian individuals: Abdullah Hassan Mohammed Sobeh, Ward Sharim, and Mus’ab Ja’aydah.

Israeli security officials claimed that Sobeh is a senior member of Hamas who has been wanted by Israel for several months in connection with involvement in a series of attacks on Israelis.

In early July, the Israeli army carried out the infamous two-day deadly assault on Jenin, using airstrikes and hundreds of soldiers with armoured vehicles, killing 12 Palestinians and leaving much destruction on the ground behind.

That deadly assault, the largest in years by occupation forces in any area in the West Bank, prompted the Palestinian Authority in Ramallah to suspend all security coordination with Tel Aviv.

President Mahmoud Abbas has vowed to rebuild what the Israelis destroyed in Jenin, home to 24,000 registered Palestinian refugees, in July.
