Market watch: Egyptian Exchange’s main index sets new record high on Monday

The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) has reached a new historic level on Monday. The benchmark index set a new record above 18,900 points.

Stock market

The benchmark EGX30 index rose by 0.99 percent to settle at 18,911 points, its highest level ever.

The EGX70 index closed at 3,830.9 points, up 0.49 percent.

Finishing at 5,603.89 points, the EGX100 rose by 0.67 percent.

The market capitalization added EGP 13 billion, recording EGP 1,281 billion.

The biggest gainer was Giza General Contracting, which surged 13.39 percent to close at EGP 95.25 per share.

The greatest loser was Saudi Egyptian Investment & Finance, which fell 7.34 percent to close at EGP 69.6 per share.

Gold prices

A gram of 24-karat gold costs EGP 2,502.75.

A gram of 21-karat gold was valued at EGP 2,190.

The price of 18-carat gold stands at EGP 1,877.25 per gramme.

The gold pound settled at EGP 17,520.

With a buy rate of EGP 30.83 and a sell rate of EGP 30.96, the official rate between Egyptian pounds and dollars remained stable.

The euro was valued at 33.3 EGP for purchases and 33.45 EGP for sales.

The Saudi riyal was priced at EGP 8.22 to buy and EGP 8.25 to sell.
