Market watch: Egyptian bourse's main index reaches unprecedented high above 19k points

The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) indices continued their increasing trajectory on Tuesday.

The benchmark EGX30 index broke an unprecedented level of 19,000 points.

Stock market

The benchmark EGX30 index reached an all-time high at 19,044.39 points, after rising 0.71 percent.

The EGX70 index closed at 3,844.33 points, up 0.35 percent.

The EGX100 inched up 0.28 percent, ending at 5,619.7 percent.

The market capitalization added EGP 6 billion, recording more than EGP 1,287 billion.

The biggest gainer for the second day in a row was Giza General Contracting, surging 20 percent to close at EGP 0.44 per share.

The greatest loser was Contact Financial Holding, falling 10.96 percent to close at EGP 3.2 per share.

Gold prices

A gram of 24-karat gold costs EGP 2,508.5 for purchase. 

A gram of 21-karat gold is valued at EGP 2,195.

The price of 18-carat gold stands at EGP 1,881.5 per gramme.

The gold pound settels at EGP 17,560.

With a buy rate of EGP 30.83 and a sell rate of EGP 30.96, the official rate between Egyptian pounds and dollars remains stable.

The euro is valued at 33.1 EGP for purchases and 33.25 EGP for sales.

The Saudi riyal is priced at EGP 8.22 to buy and EGP 8.25 to sell.
