The decision took effect in public schools in the 2022/2023 academic year, the education ministry's spokesman Shady Zalata told Ahram Online.

Students and educators are permitted to carry only basic phones without cameras or applications while at school, provided these devices are not used during instructional hours.

The ministry has underscored its commitment to enforce penalties for any violations of these regulations.

Furthermore, Minister of Education and Technical Education Reda Hegazy has issued directives to educational authorities across the governorates to actively address the issue of private tutoring.

Hegazy emphasized the importance of taking legal measures against teachers who are absent from school or fail to adhere to their assigned class schedules as per the school timetable.

In addition to these measures, the minister has stressed the necessity for students "to comply with uniform dress codes in public schools, and to ensure discipline within the schools, with the provision that students are not obligated to purchase uniforms from specific vendors".

The upcoming 2023/2024 school year is scheduled to commence on 30 September 2023 and conclude on 8 June 2024.
