World leaders are gathering in New York Tuesday for the opening of the UNGA 78 held this year under the theme 'Rebuilding Trust and Reigniting Global Solidarity'.
Shoukry will deliver Egypt's word before the UN assembly on 23 September and participate in a host of summits that will be held on the fringe of the global gathering.
These summits include the Sustainable Development Goals Summit and the Climate Ambition Summit.
Egypt's top diplomat and Sharm El-Sheikh COP27 President will also preside over the ministerial meeting on climate change losses and damages and the Global Forum to Combat Terrorism, currently co-chaired by Egypt and the European Union.
Furthermore, Shoukry will speak at the Business Council for International Understanding (BCIU) and the American Council on Foreign Relations, and meet with officials at the World Economic Forum. According to the Spokesman for the Foreign Ministry, Ahmed Abu Zeid, these meetings aim to lure investments to Egypt and introduce the latest measures by the Egyptian government to stimulate foreign investment.
Moreover, Shoukry will exchange views on international and regional issues during the preparatory ministerial meeting for the UN Summit of the Future -- which will be held in September 2024, to consider ways to deal with present-day challenges and new threats in the future.
He will also attend the ministerial meeting of Sudan’s neighbouring countries and the ministerial meeting to support the humanitarian response in Sudan and the region.
