Egypt nominates Voy! Voy! Voy! for Oscar's Best Foreign Language Film

Egyptian film Voy! Voy! Voy! is nominated to Oscar's Foreign Language Film Award Committee, which will be selecting films to compete in the 96th edition of the Academy Awards (2024).

Voy! Voy! Voy! - released across Egyptian cinemas last week - is produced by Mohamed Hefzy and his Film Clinic production company.

The film is written and directed by Omar Hilal who makes his cinematic debut and transition from the world of advertisements to movies.

Inspired by true events, Voy! Voy! Voy! tells the story of Hassan, a security guard living an impoverished life with his mother, who dreams of traveling and living abroad.

One day, Hassan stumbles on the sport of blind football and cunningly decides to pose as a visually impaired person to join a team close to playing a World Cup tournament in Europe.

He crosses paths with several characters: an attractive young journalist who is interested in covering the team; and a middle-aged coach looking for an opportunity to thrive.

Hassan goes to unimaginable lengths to make the team in order to not miss out on a ticket to Europe and a life of more opportunity.

The film stars Mohamed Farrag, Bayoumi Fouad, Nelly Karim, Taha Desouki, Amgad El-Haggar, Hanan Youssef, Mohamed Abdel-Azim, Hagag Abdel-Azim with a special appearance by Passant Shawky.
