Veteran playmaker Abdallah El-Saed opened the scoring for Pyramids FC in the 24th minute, giving them an early lead.
However, Zamalek mounted a comeback in the second half, thanks to the impact of their substitutes Nabil Emad and Ibrahim N'Daye.
Emad found the net in the 57th minute, followed by N'Daye's goal in the 62nd minute, putting Zamalek ahead.
However, Pyramids FC responded with determination, and in the 78th minute, their substitute Ramadan Sobhi scored a fantastic volley to restore parity for the hosts.
Zamalek faced a setback when defender Mahmoud Alaa was shown two yellow cards, resulting in his dismissal in the 80th minute.
Colombian coach Juan Carlos Osorio made significant modifications to the Zamalek starting line-up, with only two players retaining their spots from the team's recent disappointing 2-0 loss to Arta Solar in the CAF Confederation Cup League.
On the other hand, Pyramids FC coach Jaime Pacheco fielded a line-up similar to the one that drew with APR in the Champions League.
Pyramids FC dominated the first half, displaying their strength with a rich squad. They took the lead through Abdallah El-Saed's impressive free-kick goal.
This goal marked El-Saed's 123rd strike in the domestic league, placing him fourth in the league all-time top scorers' chart.
Despite their dominance, Pyramids FC missed opportunities to extend their lead and secure victory.
In the second half, Osorio's substitutions paid off as Nabil Emad equalised with a well-placed shot from the edge of the area in the 57th minute.
Five minutes later, Senegalese winger Ibrahim N'Daye headed home Zamalek's second goal.
Pacheco responded by making three substitutions to level the score, which ultimately paid off as Ramadan Sobhi unleashed a wonderful volley in the 78th minute to secure the equalizer.
Pyramids FC intensified their attacking efforts in the remaining minutes, particularly after Mahmoud Alaa's dismissal.
However, they were unable to find the winning goal, leaving both teams with a hard-fought draw.
