During the event, awards were distributed to the winners. Aliya Abu Shahba and Mohamed Abu Leila received the first prize in the category of electronic journalism for their in-depth story "Hunting across Egypt: No quail in autumn?".

The story was published in Al-Ahram Weekly on 8 November 2022 during the annual COP27 in Sharm El-Sheikh.

The award aims to raise awareness about environmental issues and climate change among those working in the Egyptian media and their audience.

This year saw a record-breaking 127 submissions, the highest number of entries to date, which indicates the growing interest of Egyptian media in environmental and climate issues.
